Five PSV Supporters Arrested for Assaulting Austrian in Graz

Five PSV supporters were arrested on Tuesday evening for assaulting an Austrian in the city center of Graz. The 32-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to hospital, Austrian police said.

The police suspect the Dutch between the ages of 18 and 22 of beating and kicking the victim. That happened after the match won by PSV in the third preliminary round of the Champions League against Sturm Graz (1-3).

The Austrian suffered serious facial injuries. A search of the area led to the arrests. According to Austrian media, the Dutch did not confess to the abuse during their interrogation.

‘No bad apples’
The PSV supporters’ association indicated earlier this month that it was done with the misconduct of part of its own supporters. During the match for the Johan Cruijff Scale more than a week ago against Feyenoord, things also went wrong.

The necessary destruction was caused in the Kuip and supporters threw things at the Rotterdam supporters. “It’s a pattern,” the fan club wrote on its website at the time.

Placement for playoffs
PSV was 4-1 too strong for Austria’s number 2 in the Philips Stadium last week. PSV has qualified for the play-offs of the Champions League thanks to the two victories.
