First Northern Pickleball Tournament Comes to Tucumán: A New Sport Takes the Spotlight

On Saturday, September 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the First Northern Pickleball Tournament will take place at the Ledesma Complex (May 25, 971), a discipline from the US that is taking its first steps in Tucumán.

The competition will take place in two modalities: men’s singles and mixed doubles. Registration is open and its cost is $2,500 (singles) and $4,000 (mixed doubles). Those interested in registering should contact the telephone numbers of the organizers: 3815734845 (Alejo Lloren Boscarino), 3815764297 (Martín Boscarino) and 3815553850 (Julieta Gambarte).

What is pickleball? It is a discipline that combines elements of others: it is played on a court of similar proportions to badminton, but it is more like a reduced version of tennis. “The learning curve is much shorter than that of tennis or paddle, especially for older people. Being a smaller field, there is much less displacement. It’s like ping pong, but on the court”, described it by Gonzalo Lloren Boscarino, who introduced pickleball to Tucumán.
