FIFA to Hold 2023 U-17 World Cup Draw in Zurich, Switzerland

Drawing U-17 World Cup 2023 will take place at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, on September 15.

This certainty was conveyed by the Head of the National Team Agency (BTN) Sumardji when contacted by CNNIndonesia.comThursday (31/8).

“That is correct [Drawing Piala Dunia U-17 di Zurich tanggal 15 September],” Sumardji said.

Originally the draw for the 2023 U-17 World Cup was scheduled to take place in Jakarta. This was revealed by the General Chairperson of PSSI, Erick Thohir.

“Later, the draw for the 2023 U-17 World Cup will probably be held in August. The draw will be held in Jakarta. We are currently looking for the right location,” said Erick Thohir last July.

In the 2023 U-17 World Cup draw, the 24 participating teams will be divided into six groups of four teams. Currently there are four seeded pots containing six teams that will be drawn later.

The U-17 Indonesian national team joined Pot 1 due to host status. In addition, the Garuda Asia squad is confirmed to enter Group A. In Pot 1, besides Indonesia, there are Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain and Germany.

Then in Pot 2 there are Mali, England, Japan, South Korea, Argentina and Ecuador. Then in Pot 3 there are New Zealand, Iran, Senegal, the United States, Uzbekistan and Morocco. Finally in Pot 4 there are Canada, New Caledonia, Panama, Burkina Faso, Poland and Venezuela.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from November 10 to December 2. Four stadiums have been appointed by FIFA to hold the match, namely Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Solo) and Gelora Bung Tomo (Surabaya).
