Femke Bol’s Incredible Journey to Becoming a Two-Time World Champion

Femke Bol was a guest on Monday at Frank Dane’s radio program, called the 538 Middagshow. Bol told about the race there, but also about the special app she received from Usain Bolt.

The multiple Olympic champion saw his compatriots from Jamaica be overtaken by Bol in the last five meters and thus miss the gold.

“You already had gold once, you didn’t have to overtake us in the last meters!”, the Jamaican texted Bol. The Dutch world champion was impressed by the message. “Then I thought ‘wow’, that is very special.”

TWICE WORLD CHAMPION

The World Cup had started with a nightmare for Bol. She fell in gold position in the last hundred meters of the 4x400m mixed final. Bol more than made up for that by winning the 400m hurdle final.

On Sunday, the 23-year-old athlete became world champion again by winning the 4x400m final together with Lieke klaver, Eveline Saalberg and Cathelijn Peters in a time of 3:20.72.
