Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has specified his forecast for a comeback by national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. He hopes that Neuer “can start team training in two or three weeks. And then it’ll be quick anyway,” said Tuchel on the streaming service DAZN after Munich’s 4-0 win at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga opening game on Friday evening.
The 37-year-old Neuer suffered a broken leg after the World Cup in December last year. The Bayern keeper completed an individual training session with goalkeeper-specific exercises on the lawn on Säbener Strasse on Friday morning. About two weeks ago, Neuer successfully had a planned metal removal on his right fibula. After the plate was removed, the reaction was “very positive,” said Tuchel.
Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dressen also expressed confidence. “We are happy that Manuel Neuer is on a much faster path than we might have thought a few weeks ago. That’s the good thing about it,” he said.

In order to save the team from travel stress, the flight to Bremen was moved to Friday instead of flying the day before the game as usual.
