FC Bayern Munich has announced the signing of goalkeeper Daniel Peretz. The 23-year-old comes from Maccabi Tel Aviv and has signed a contract until 2028.
The transfer fee for Peretz is said to be five million euros. The keeper was under contract in Tel Aviv until 2024.
“With Daniel Peretz, we are very well positioned in our goalkeeper team – for this season and for the future. Daniel Peretz is a goalkeeper with great potential. In his younger years he not only showed his skills in national, but also i international competitions,” said FCB CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
Daniel Peretz himself said: “It’s every child’s dream to be able to play for a club as big as Bayern. When I heard about Bayern’s interest, I only had one wish: to move here. I’m hungry to whatever comes next.”
At Bayern, Peretz, who will receive number 18, will compete with Sven Ulreich for the number one spot until Manuel Neuer returns. The German international goalkeeper was injured in December last year and has been out ever since. In the second half of the 2022/23 season, Yann Sommer was in goal for Bayern, but the Swiss switched to Inter Milan this summer.
When exactly Neuer can celebrate his comeback is currently still open. However, coach Thomas Tuchel was recently optimistic about the 37-year-old returning to team training soon.
