FC Bayern: Benjamin Pavard is said to be negotiating with Manchester United

Manchester United want to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich. This reports, among other things Sky and Sport1. Accordingly, talks are currently underway between the French and representatives of the Premier League record champions.

Pavard is still tied to FCB until 2024, but would like to leave the club this summer. After he had made several public statements in this direction in the spring, it had recently become quiet about a possible departure.

In Munich he completed a good preparation and also received a lot of praise from coach Thomas Tuchel. However, given the competition from Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano and Min-jae Kim, who bought 50 million, it is uncertain whether Pavard would get the targeted place in the defensive center.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are in search of a replacement for captain Harry Maguire. According to media reports, the central defender is close to a transfer to league rivals West Ham United.

At United, Pavard would have to compete in central defense with Raphaël Varane, Lisandro Martínez and Victor Lindelöf. Recently, former Schalke Jean-Clair Todibo (OGC Nice) was under discussion as a newcomer to the Red Devils.

Pavard moved from his youth club OSC Lille to the Bundesliga in 2016 and signed for VfB Stuttgart for five million euros. In 2019, the world champion went to FCB for 35 million euros.

He has played 162 competitive games for Munich so far, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists. The 27-year-old won the German championship four times with Bayern and, to top it off, the Champions League in 2020.
