Exciting All-Croatian Final Highlights Second Day of Judo Grand Prix in Zagreb

It couldn’t have gone better than this for the enthusiastic crowd that packed the Arena Zagreb for the second day of the Judo Grand Prix. An all-Croatian final between two stars who fought with great fairness and friendship

The Grand Prix was declared officially open by the personal representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Tomislav Druzak, the vice-president of the International Judo Federation, Laszlo Toth. and the President of the Croatian Judo Federation, Sanda Corak.

The local Judo Club Profectus and Judo Club Ishi offered a demonstration of their inclusive judo to the public.

The crowd cheered on the -63kg athletes, with Britain’s Lucy Renshall defeating Jisu Kim to claim her first Grand Prix gold medal which was presented by the personal representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Tomislav Druzak.

At -73kg, Spaniard Jorge Cano Garcia won his first World Judo Tour medal with an incredible ippon, which wowed the crowd!

IJF Director of Education and Coaches Mohammed Merdja presented the medals.

Sagi Muki, from Israel reassembled two waza-ari and won another gold for his collection. The assistant to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Croatia, Ivan Jusic, presented the medals.

The Croatian derby

In the -70 kg category an all-Croatian final that the fans were waiting for: Lara Cvjetko fought hard and landed a waza-ari against her compatriot Barbara Matic to take first place on the podium. A meeting characterized by great respect and friendship. The director of education of the IJF, Sanda Corak, rewarded them for her.

Local champions landed ippon in grand style at Arena Zagreb, to the delight of an audience of young judokas. A great example for future generations.

The second day of the Zagreb Grand Prix was indeed a showcase of the best judo in the world. Now we await the third day with another great show.
