European Under 17 Badminton Championships Conclude in Vilnius: Denmark, Ukraine, Spain, and France Top the Rankings

The European Under 17 Badminton Championships have concluded in Vilnius in Lithuania, which confirmed Denmark, Ukraine, Spain and France at the top of the movement.

Italy did not disfigure overall, but failed to enter the medal table.

For Sofia Protto, a young member of the Alba Shuttle club, this aspect is not too important. She returned to Italy a few hours ago and she tells us: “For me the European Championship was a wonderful experience, which will certainly help me become what I want to become as an athlete. I was expecting a high level, but in reality we have all noticed that in Europe there are players of extraordinary physical, technical and tactical ability and we still have a lot of work to do.”

Calling up to the blue group represented a great achievement for Sofia.

“Being there was important. Among other things, we lived together for 18 days, having held the meeting in Milan at the end of July and this allowed us to cement a good group. The organization then reserved an entire hotel for the representatives of various nations, so we were able to get to know and make friends with many other athletes and this was very educational”.

His next important commitments, in addition to the tournaments with the club, will be the absolute Italian championships in the autumn.

“It will be my last Under 17 championship, next year I’ll move up in the category and I hope to do well” concludes Sofia.

Meanwhile, last weekend, in the 3rd Grand Prix Tournament of Malles (BZ), good performances by the Alba Shuttle, which obtained 6 medals, with Faizan Aslan silver in the men’s singles and bronze in the doubles, Ilaria Fornaciari, silver in the doubles under 17 women and mixed doubles, Federico Cagnasso bronze in the under 17 mixed doubles and Pietro Ronco silver in the under 13 men’s doubles.
