Elderly Pensioners Find Joy and Adventure at Dynamo Camp: A Successful Collaboration with Spi-Cgil

A large group of people over seventy have successfully and joyfully experienced the activities offered by Dynamo Camp. Thus Dynamo Camp and Spi-Cgil (the Italian pensioners’ union of the CGIL) joined forces in a project that involved fifty over-70 pensioners who became protagonists of a project that saw them involved in various disciplines: from climbing to shooting with the arch, the swimming pool and the artistic workshops. “When Dynamo Camp, a few months ago, proposed this experimental project to us – writes the secretary of Spi-Cgil, Andrea Brachi – we had a thousand doubts and they too had our same perplexities: it was the first time they had opened the doors to a group of elderly people. Nobody could know, be sure, that the project could be carried out as we had planned. And instead everything went smoothly. Fifty pensioners from Pistoia, Prato, Pisa, Arezzo, Cesena, Viareggio let yourself go, accompanied by the young Dynamo volunteers and spent three unforgettable days.

“We have experienced first-hand – underlines the secretary Brachi – the splendid work that Dynamo carries out in favor of children and adolescents suffering from chronic diseases, in therapy or in the post-hospitalization period, involving families. We have been able to demonstrate that we are an active part of this world and that we are not willing to be relegated to one side”. There is no doubt, as the participants testify, that the experience was fascinating and appreciated: “Thanks to the volunteers who accompanied us, involved us, entertained us, educated us, solicited us. We learned many things, an atmosphere of respect was created and listen, always accompanied by a smile”.

Because after all, as we read on the walls and in the hearts of the Dynamo boys: “Dreams always shape the world”.
