Eintracht Frankfurt and the poker around Kolo Muani: money or goals?

Diant Ramaj will not be able to change the ranking of Eintracht goalkeepers in the new Bundesliga season. The 21-year-old German-Kosovar remains number two behind Kevin Trapp as long as he is not thrown back by injuries.

The 33-year-old, who is one of the most important Frankfurt professionals with his performance and personality as a leading player, is in a very special attacking mood in the new working year: With outstanding performances and new Eintracht successes, Trapp wants to compete for number one in the coming months Rekindle the national team goal. Around eleven months before the start of the EM 2024 in Germany, Barcelona’s André ter Stegen has the edge in sport. The challenge for the Hessian by choice is great.

Like Trapp, Randal Kolo Muani is indispensable in Frankfurt with the new coach Dino Toppmöller and is set as an outstanding worker. Among the outfield players, the multi-talented French striker makes the difference with his final strength (23 goals in 46 competitive games) and his overview of the game (17 assists).

In terms of value, the 24-year-old national striker is the big pound in the workforce. Eintracht could imagine selling their exceptional player for around 100 million euros. Still, she would like to keep counting on Kolo Muani’s goals for the win. But now the European top club Paris St-Germain should seriously advertise for the goal guarantor. The poker of the Parisians around Kolo Muani seems to be open.

Götze wants to go ahead

Considering his importance, Mario Götze is also untouchable when filling the first eleven. The playmaker and world champion of 2014 will act as an offensive eight. The 31-year-old missed the first units of the summer preparations due to an infection, but he is now back to full strength.

In his second year at Eintracht, Götze now wants to “take on even more responsibility. I want to lead the way, help the young players and steer everything in one direction so that we can be successful on and off the pitch,” he announced.

Captain Sebastian Rode and Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe compete for the second eighth position. The Frenchman started the pre-season with teething problems, didn’t seem focused and showed little enthusiasm for the game. But now his game has regained its purposefulness. Ebimbe is serious about the allocation of places.

Interceptor Skhiri

Before the start of the competitive game on August 13 (3.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the DFB Cup and on Sky) in the DFB Cup at Lok Leipzig, Ellyes Skhiri has already secured a regular place with his skills. The new signing from 1. FC Köln will be the new midfield boss in the sixth position. The Tunisian’s running and playing strength enables him to set the pace in the control center.

The 28-year-old, who can hardly be disturbed, is a careful interceptor in front of his own defensive formation. He also skillfully sets the pace. A second signing, Willian Pacho, has taken big steps in the right direction in recent weeks.

In terms of elegance, the Ecuadorian, who came from Belgium from Royal Antwerp, cannot keep up with his predecessor Evan Ndicka. But with his will to assert himself in duels, his speed and his passable opening of the game, the 21-year-old’s place as left central defender is probably safe.

Cook wobbles

Robin Koch has been a shaky candidate so far, although Eintracht, who will welcome Nottingham Forest to the World Cup arena for the season opener this Saturday (3.30 p.m.), have chosen the newcomer from Leeds United for the important position of chief of defence. The 27-year-old was plagued by adductor problems. Koch was only able to train fully again on Tuesday. He doesn’t have much time now to catch up on his training deficit.

Makoto Hasebe, on the other hand, gave a taste of his tireless creativity in the friendly against Vitesse Arnheim (1:1). The 39-year-old defender gave the defense stability and revealed his game intelligence with successful passes. Toppmöller announced that the oldest Bundesliga player will receive his stakes again.

However, defender Tuta had reason to criticize himself because he too often lacked the necessary seriousness and consistency in his duels. He’ll need to improve significantly to establish himself in a three-man defense when all players are ready. On the flanks, Philipp Max and Aurélio Buta are currently the first choices for defending.

As in the duel with Arnhem, the position of the hanging leader behind Kolo Muani remains. The first contender is currently Jens Petter Hauge, who is on the rise after his return to Eintracht in terms of new positioning with a high level of motivation.

Jesper Lindström is not yet in top form. And in the fight for a regular place, newcomer Omar Marmoush also has to step up. New attacker Jessic Ngankam also has room for improvement. If all offensive players are at a high level of performance, the tough competitive situation can only be good for coach Toppmöller.
