Dominican Judo Federation to Host Pan-American Open Cadet and Junior Santo Domingo 2023

SANTO DOMINGO, DR.-The Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo) announced the celebration in the country of the Pan-American Open Cadet and Junior Santo Domingo 2023 in the National House of that discipline of the Olympic Center.

The tournaments, which will be held on August 19 and 20, will be organized by Fedojudo, with the endorsement and support of the Pan American Confederation of that sport (CPJ).

“We have been celebrating this event in the country for 10 years, which is a way of giving opportunity to young judokas who are growing and who are the future of tomorrow,” said Gilberto García, head of Fedojudo.

A total of six countries have confirmed their participation in the championships, whose registration date closes on the 14th of this month, according to Leidi Germán, technical director.

Colombia, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic are the nations that have guaranteed their participation in the championship.

“High-level athletes will be at this important event,” said Germán, who pointed out that the opening ceremony will be on Saturday the 19th at 4:00 in the afternoon.

The arrival of the delegations is scheduled for Thursday the 17th, while on Friday the 18th the official weigh-in of the athletes who will see action in the Cadet Pan American Cup will take place, which will take place on Saturday the 19th from 9:00 in the morning .

Wilkin Ogando, training director, indicated that the athletes are at a good level of preparation, concentrated in a Fedojudo camp.

“Our athletes are prepared and ready to give their best on the tatami,” said Ogando, who said that some 100 judokas will see action in both categories.

On Sunday the 20th, starting at 9:00 in the morning, the Junior Pan American Cup will take place.

The general secretary, Luisa Martínez, highlighted the logistics that are being carried out so that the event is a complete success.

After the events, Fedojudo also released the information that a camp with athletes from the different delegations will be held from 21 to 26 of this month at the National House of Judo.
