David Ferrer Supports Spanish Players at the US Open 2023: Talks Alcaraz-Sinner and Djokovic’s Dominance

David Ferrer enjoys the US Open 2023 from the stands. Throughout these first days of the American tournament, we have been able to see the tennis player in the box of several Spanish players supporting them in their matches. On his return, Ferrer will make his debut as captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team in Valencia.

How do you see a possible duel between Alcaraz and Sinner in the quarterfinals?

“I think it’s pretty even. Carlos has already shown his skills and ability by winning two Grand Slam titles, but Sinner won in Toronto and I think he is also ready to win his first major. Along with Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner stand out compared to the others”, David explained in an interview with Tennis Majors.

Jannik improves every year, perhaps physically he has not developed as fast as Carlos, but he is on the right track. Jannik’s future is bright, he has a lot of room to progress in his game, especially going to the net and serving. If he improves those small details, he will be a great player.

Djokovic, a special tennis player

“I knew that Djokovic was a special player. I saw that he was different from the others in terms of caring for his body and progressive thinking about it. Novak is always looking for ways to improve. He knew that he could become one of the best in tennis history. Without any doubt, I think Novak can continue like this for two or three more years.

On the Djokovic-Alcaraz rivalry

“I watched the final in Cincinnati, of course. In their matches, the margins are always very small. I think that’s why all true tennis fans want to see them face each other. In Cincinnati, Djokovic refused to break down mentally. At Wimbledon the opposite happened. Novak had chances and in the end he couldn’t win. This time, Carlos had his chance when Novak had physical problems, but he knew how to overcome himself, as great champions do”.
