Cyclists Compete in the Baltic Chain Tour, Covering 156.5 Kilometers

In the vicinity of Panevezys, cyclists covered 156.5 kilometers on the plain on Sunday.

Dane Mads Lanbdo (“Uno-X Dare”) won the victory in the big group finish, covering the distance in three hours, nine minutes and 17 seconds.

With the same time, the Italian Filippo Fortin and the Dutch Roy Efting-Bloom took the second and third place respectively.

In the leading group, Latvian national team driver Ansons finished in 23rd place, in the group, Alekss Krasts (“Tartu 2024”) took 43rd place, 51st place – Kārlis Valters Grundulis, 73rd place – Agris Vindecs, 76th place – Kārlis Klismets, 105th place In the competition of 125 drivers – Renāts Stāls, and 108th place – another representative of the Latvian national team, Rihards Reinfelds.

In the three-stage overall ranking, the Estonian cyclist Rait Erms, who won the first stage, became the winner, two seconds ahead of the representative of the second team of Alpecin-Deceuninck, German Henry Ulig, and 14 seconds ahead of Fortin.

Among Latvian cyclists, Klismets was the highest, finishing in 21st place, two minutes and 48 seconds behind the winner.

32nd place was taken by Krasts (+3:18), 59th – Vindec (+3:41), 70th – Ansons (+4:04), 78th – Stahl (+4:27), 99th – Reinfelds (+6:03) and 103. – Grundulis (+6:19).

In the competition of young drivers, Klismets finished tenth.

“Baltic Chain tour” is a multi-day highway cycling competition of three Baltic countries, which is organized in honor of the 1989 action “Baltic Road”, in which two million inhabitants of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia joined hands over a length of 600 kilometers to stand up for the independence of the countries in a non-violent way .

25 teams participated in the cycling race, which is the maximum number in one UCI group competition. Among the participants were also the second teams of “Alpecin-Deceuninck” and “Uno-X”, as well as the national teams of Latvia, Estonia and Germany.

The competition was renewed in 2011.
