22-year-old Belgian cyclist Tijl De Decker crashes into the back of a car during a training ride and suffers serious injuries. The team shared, “Our thoughts and prayers are with him.”
The Belgian cycling talent Tijl De Decker is still in an artificial coma after his serious training accident in the municipality of Lier near Antwerp on Wednesday. This was announced by the professional team Lotto-Dstny, for which the 22-year-old drives, on Thursday evening. “We will not provide any further information about his injuries,” the statement said. De Decker “had a violent impact on the back of a car and was taken to Lier Hospital where he underwent surgery,” according to a team spokeswoman. “He was then transferred to Antwerp University Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tijl.”
