Leandro Custódio, creator and coach of CT VIVA, commented on the athlete’s trajectory, “Bernardo was discovered by CT VIVA in 2017, in Vila Valério, during the evaluations we carried out at the time for the Copa Agazetinha. I noticed the young man’s talent and approved him in the CT VIVA team. Bernardo traveled to Ibirapuã in Bahia where we became champions in that year of 2018. He was champion of the U15 North Cup for CT VIVA, winning other titles as well. After standing out, we sent Bernardo to Belo Horizonte, to Clube AEC, where he stayed for a good period and played in Minas Gerais and national championships. Bernardo also played for Varginha Futebol Clube, Guarani-MG and Porto Vitória. The athlete even spent a period in São Paulo and today is out of the country. Gilberto Souto opened doors for Bernardo, he was of great importance”.

“Bernardo is, today, our pride and proof of the work that CT VIVA develops. We achieved very high-level results, and he is the 2nd athlete that we have sent out of the country, in Europe. In August, we will have the 3rd athlete being sent. All honor and glory must go to God for his care in our project. Our motto is ‘Jesus is our strength’. Bernardo’s trajectory is successful, and we will hear a lot about him, because in addition to education, he is a boy focused on his goals. I thank the family for their support and confidence in our work, for always investing in this star’s dream”, concluded Leandro.

The athlete commented a little about his trajectory over the years, “In 2020, I had the first opportunity, when I was still 14 years old, through CT VIVA and Leandro Custódio, to go to a basic school in Contagem, MG . I stayed there for a long time, also passing through Varginha Futebol Clube. Afterwards, I went through a new evaluation through Leandro and CT VIVA in my city, Vila Valério, and I got an opportunity in Porto Vitória. However, I ended up having a problem with my hip and had to go home for treatment. After that, I returned to Minas Gerais and worked at Guarani de Divinópolis, where I met Gilberto Souto, who worked on the team and, when he realized my potential, decided to manage me. During that period, I fractured my foot and was out of action for 6 months, returning home for treatment. Soon after, I was referred by him to the Rolândia Esporte Clube team, in Paraná. It was at that moment that Gilberto, to whom I am very grateful, got the opportunity to send me to Europe. I spent a brief period in Petrópolis, in Rio de Janeiro, and through Gilberto’s contacts in the world of football, he got me this opportunity. Today, I’m joining a European club, and that’s something I’m immensely grateful to him for.”

Bernardo commented on the feeling of being able to work with the sport outside the country, “The feeling is unique, every kid who dreams of playing soccer has the dream of being able to come to Europe, I thought it was something impossible, a distant dream, but With hard work and dedication and support from my family, who were always by my side and never let me give up, I managed to make this dream come true and be here. And of course remembering that all this only happened because God was always in charge of everything”.

On his expectation for the future, Bernardo pointed out, “I hope it will be a blessed season. I’m focused and working to be one of the club’s protagonists, in order to be able to help the team gain access to the next division and also win the French Cup title. My expectation for the future is to be able to continue doing what I like, dedicate myself and evolve to grow more and more”.

Aulierquis Bravim, father of the athlete Bernardo, commented on what it was like to follow his son’s development in the sport, “It has always been very rewarding, all the small achievements were always important and a source of pride. He started very early at the age of 08 in the football school, as we live in the rural area, we took him and his brother to training. It was great to see that he grew up in this world and developed this love for football and did not give up in the face of difficulties, he continued to persevere and has grown through dedication and commitment”.

Bernardo’s mother, Lidineia S Bergher Bravim, commented on the importance of family support so that children can pursue their dreams, “Family support and the example of commitment and dedication are extremely important in our children’s journey, not only in football, but in any sport, I usually say that sport saves lives, and needs to be encouraged. Bernardo always had family support, we educated him so that he could have responsibility from an early age, he left home at 14 and went to Contagem in Minas for our encouragement and stayed there also for our encouragement. And he always had all the necessary support to pursue his dream and he has already achieved a lot. Family support is the main point in this process. Many kids give up because their families are the first to prioritize other things and not support them in what really matters, which is why so many are left in the middle of the road”.

“It’s been very rewarding to accompany my son in this new stage, it’s a great pride to see him flying higher and higher. It has always been from the small achievements, it has been a journey of problems, difficulties, uncertainties, but not of discouragement. Bernardo is a boy who is well received wherever he goes, like Gilberto Souto, his agent, likes to say that he is a complete athlete, not only because of his technique and ability in football, but because he is focused, determined, responsible and also very polite. It’s great to see that he’s growing and slowly managing to realize his dream on his merits and for the support we’ve always given. Seeing him now in Europe is the realization of a dream that is not only his, but also of each one of us in the family. We are very grateful to God for having made him come this far, putting the right people in his path and freeing others who sometimes just want to take advantage”, Lidineia pointed out.
