Juan Fernando Quintero already has his place saved in the history of River. His goal against Boca in Madrid to win the most important final of all time will never be erased from the memory of either the Biggest fan or his lifelong rival. In recent days it was confirmed that the talented Colombian midfielder returns to play in Argentina and will do so for Racing.
The Colombian returned to River at the beginning of 2022 from Chinese soccer and although the team was far from showing a great version, Juanfer had good moments and was one of the highlights of the team. With the arrival of Demichelis and added to a conflict linked to currency in the country, Quintero left Núñez to go play Junior de Barranquilla, but his time at Tiburón lasted just a semester.
Quintero was left with the pass in his possession after terminating with Junior, but the reality is that no one called him from River. Therefore, faced with a specific interest from Racing -which offered him a contract for three years- he did not hesitate and accepted the proposal. It will be strange to see Juanfer with a shirt in Argentine soccer that is not River’s.
What did Juanfer say when he arrived in Argentina?
“I am very happy, I had the opportunity to speak with the coach and I was convinced of the project. The truth is that I am motivated by what is coming. I think we are going to get used to it (about seeing him with a shirt that is not River’s in Argentina), I wish River the best”, said the Colombian upon arriving at Ezeiza. This Wednesday he will sign his contract with Racing for the next three years.
Then he added: “What I lived in River was a very nice stage, now I am enjoying another. I am very happy and grateful to Racing for the opportunity. I never spoke to anyone about River and I’m still focused on Racing. I am prepared, I did the preseason with Junior, I kept up and as quickly as possible I can join. I am happy and motivated.”
