Christoph Philipps Returns South: New Signing for Tübingen after Hamburg Detour

Christoph Philipps and trainer Danny Jansson know each other from many years together in Ulm: In the 2016/2017 season, Jansson and Philipps were promoted to the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga with the Weißenhorn Youngstars. However, due to injury, the 24-year-old only played four matches. A year later, the relegation followed. In 28 games, Philipps had 3.3 points and 1.5 rebounds. The fifth new signing from Tübingen played in Ulm for a total of six years from 2016 to 2022.

Then it was off to the Towers in Hamburg, where he played in 32 BBL games. Now the return to the south: “I’m happy that I was able to sign in Tübingen. Coach Danny has accompanied me in Ulm for a long time. I know what he demands and which basketball he wants to play, so I can identify with that. I already knew most of the boys, which is why it’s relatively easy for me to get used to them. Being back south and closer to family and friends is of course a nice bonus. I’m happy to leave everything on the field and fight with the boys. Even if a lot of people won’t have us on the list, I believe that we can cause surprises,” says Philipps about his move within the league.

Christoph Philipps was born on September 15, 1989 in Munich. The fifth newcomer from Tübingen grew up in Neu-Ulm with two sisters.
