The state capital, the UNICEF working group Saarbrücken and the Friends of the DFG eV invite you to the children’s festival. There are hands-on activities, creative offers, stage programs and workshops at more than 50 different stations.

The festival is celebrated on the occasion of World Children’s Day. This year’s motto is “Every child needs a future!” This is intended to remind people how important it is that every child has the opportunity to realize their dreams and to shape their own future.

Special highlights

The well-travelled crank case takes viewers from the age of four into the mysterious world of magical sea shells. The current playing times are written on the board in the reading pavilion. Another highlight is the mobile petting zoo. This enables young visitors to experience various animals up close.

Crafts, dancing, making music

Children can play, paint, do handicrafts and crafts on the UNICEF playground and on the lawn of the child protection association. The participating institutions provide information about their activities and present exemplary projects and initiatives to improve the situation of children.

On the meadow in the Ehrental, the children can learn about children’s rights in a playful way at the stand of the KidS department of the state capital. If you want, you can let off steam in the children’s gymnastics of the Saarländisches Turnerbund, visit the Rockmobil or learn new dance choreographies at the dance workshops of the Bootz-Ohlmann dance school. On the SR1 stage there will be performances by the Singing Bells, where everyone can sing along, and performances by the puppet theater.

A children’s flea market is held at the Berlin Pavilion (Entrance at Folsterhöhe). Those who would like to take part can register there from 7 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

The fire brigade, the German Red Cross, the police and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief present their vehicles and show their interesting everyday life.

Participate in sports

At the Folsterhöhe judo club’s activity stand, children learn about the martial art of judo and how to use their strength cleverly. In addition to techniques, judo also teaches respect and discipline towards fellow human beings.

The Saarbrücken rugby club Stade Sarrois lets the children throw the oval ball or play small matches under supervision. You learn fairness and respect for fellow players and opponents.

At the Saarländisches Turnerbund, children can let off steam and learn how to enjoy movement.

Health tips

The health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit accompanies the children’s festival with “Max and the DAKs Olympiad”. The campaign is intended to motivate people to be more active in a playful way and thus prevent health problems. Children and parents get practical suggestions for more exercise in everyday life.

On the stage of the Bootz-Ohlmann dance school there will be a movement story to participate in the initiative “The Saarland lives healthy!”.
