Céline Boutier Makes History with Victory at Evian Championship and Reflects on Impact on French Golf

Céline Boutier continues to write her legend. Winner of the Evian Championship, the Parisienne is now 4th in the world and improves on her recent performance at the start of the season. After winning the LPGA Drive on Championship in March 2023, the 29-year-old had climbed to 8th place in the world rankings, she had already improved her own record (13th in the world). The quadruple winner on the LPGA thus puts an end to all debate by erasing the 6th place of Patricia Meunier-Lebouc in May 2003. An unofficial ranking since the first official Rolex Ranking was published in 2006.

“It is difficult to realize that I have such an impact on French golf or on France”

The nicknamed “Boubout'” then obtained the best ranking ever achieved by a Frenchman in the world ranking (men and women combined). La Tricolore enters the top 5 for the first time in the history of French golf.

“These are not things I think about in my daily life (to be the best French golfer). I really feel like it’s hard to realize that I have such an impact on French golf or on France. I’m just very grateful to have this gift of golf and to be able to inspire other French players to turn professional and try to play on the same stage. It was an extraordinary adventure. I hope it’s not the end, ”says the third major tricolor winner.

The native of Montrouge is now only three steps from the world summit, and now occupies first place in the Race to CME Globe (the ranking of the season on the American circuit).
