Malaysia U-23 national team captain Muhammad Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazii commented after his team lost to Thailand in the third place match AFF U-23 Cup 2023.

Malaysia lost on penalties with a score of 3-4 to Thailand after drawing 0-0 in normal time in the match for third place in the 2024 AFF U-23 Cup at the Rayong Province Stadium, Saturday (26/8) afternoon.

Malaysia U-23 national team captain Muhammad Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazii said he didn’t care that netizens blasphemed his team after losing to Thailand.

“I think everything went well in the beginning, even though it ended in defeat. Although netizens said all kinds of things, we fought until the end,” said Muhammad Ubaidullah quoted from AFF’s Twitter.

“Even though we lost 3-4, we are still trying to do our best in this match,” Ubaidullah added.

However, Ubaidullah is optimistic that Malaysia will perform better in the 2023 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification starting September 6.

“The players have shown their best and we are trying to build a strong team in this event and this is a good feeling towards the U-23 Asian Cup Qualification,” said Ubaidullah.

Malaysia U-23 was joined in Group H of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification along with Thailand, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Indonesia is in Group K with Turkmenistan and Taiwan.
