New season, old champions – the majority of Bundesliga clubs see FC Bayern as top favorites again. A Champions League club sees it differently.

The vast majority of Bundesliga clubs see permanent champions FC Bayern Munich ahead at the end of the coming 2023/24 season.

In a survey by the German Press Agency before Bayern lost 3-0 in the Supercup against RB Leipzig, 13 clubs named Munich as the big favorites, four clubs did not give a championship tip. Bayern celebrated their eleventh championship in a row last season.

Borussia Dortmund could stop Bayern

“Bayern, with their opportunities and after eleven championships in a row, are automatically the top favorites in the Bundesliga,” said Leipzig’s sports director Max Eberl before the Supercup. Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director Simon Rolfes said that “this will not change in the next few years”. The economic distance between the industry leader and the other clubs is “simply huge”.

Union Berlin’s managing director Oliver Ruhnert encouraged his colleagues among the Champions League starters. “To everyone’s surprise,” Bayer Leverkusen or RB Leipzig will become champions, he said. Borussia Dortmund could also stop Bayern, “maybe even” Eintracht Frankfurt.
