Budget of the Judiciary 2024 should not jeopardize the administration of justice: STPJF – El Sol de México

The discussion and approval of the 2024 Budget for the Federal Judiciary must abandon the risk of compromising the administration of justice and the labor and salary benefits of its nearly 40,000 workers, warned the national leader of the Union of Workers of the Judiciary of the Federation, teacher Jesús Gilberto González Pimentel.

In the delivery to the president of the Budget and Public Account Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Erasmo González Robledo (Morena), of the position and consideration of the union, he questions the proposal to carry out a very significant cut in budget resources.

“This would directly and immediately affect the worker base, who today are the ones who earn the least, despite the significant increase in their workloads and who have not received any adequate benefits since 2019,” he revealed.

“Only the operational personnel received an increase in their perceptions that was less than the inflationary indexes,” he said.

This can be verified by taking into account the functioning of increasingly created jurisdictional bodies, derived from important judicial reforms such as the Federal Criminal Justice Centers and the Federal Labor Courts.

“These organizations began to work with the minimum essential resources, including human resources, in such a way that these courts are forced to deal with enormous workloads, with extremely small staff that result in health effects for those who integrate them, by not be able to have adequate rest periods,” he said.

He maintained that the STPJF, affiliated with the Central FSTSE, “is not against optimizing budgetary resources; but it is fair and necessary to consider the position of the nearly 40,000 workers of the Federal Judiciary, when the 2024 Budget is discussed and approved.”

“So that the administration of justice is not compromised, nor the benefits of its workers, which according to the Law on Remuneration of Public Servants, cannot be decreased if they are contained in the General Working Conditions,” recalled the union leader.

He also rejected the qualifications made about the budgets authorized to the PJF and said that “they are inaccurate.”

“Only for the current fiscal year 2023, resources were authorized that do not even reach one percent of the total Expenditure Budget of the Federation, so if it is reduced even more, it will move away and will not come close to what is ideal for guarantee impartiality and objectivity in the administration of federal justice”.
