Brazil’s World Cup Struggles Continue as Jamaica Makes History

The World Cup and Brazil: it has not been a successful marriage for several years. The Divine Canaries were eliminated in the 1/8th finals in the past 3 editions, this year they don’t even make it to that round.

The assignment was clear, however: a win against Jamaica and Brazil would finish second in group F. The experienced Marta, who played at 6 World Cups, was specially dropped into the starting line-up to get the job done.

But even Marta couldn’t find a hole in the Jamaican defenses. Jamaica was defended for their lives, Brazil did not score despite 65% possession and 8 shots on target.

A new low in the recent World Cup history of the Brazilians. In Jamaica the joy will not be less, they qualify for the 1/8th finals for the first time.

In the other group match, France settled with Panama, the French assured themselves of a group win.
