Axel Laurance crowned world champion hopefuls at the Glasgow Worlds

Axel Laurance is world champion hopefuls. The Frenchman won the online under-23 event at the Glasgow Worlds on Saturday and succeeds Kazakh Yevgeniy Fedorov, crowned in 2022.

Isolated at the head of the race 25 kilometers from the finish, Laurance (22) resisted the return of the pursuers, whom he beat by a few meters on the line. The Portuguese Antonio Morgado (2nd) and the Slovak Martin Svrcek complete the podium.

A rider with the development team of the Alpecin-Deceuninck training this season, he is the fifth Frenchman to be crowned world champion, after Benoît Cosnefroy (2017), Kévin Ledanois (2015), Arnaud Démarre (2011) and Romain Sicard (2009).
