Italy has won four medals at the World Cup 2023 in athletics: gold for Gianmarco Tamberi in the high jump, silver for Leonardo Fabbri in the shot put and in the men’s 4×100, bronze for Antonella Palmisano in the 20 km walk. This is a sumptuous booty for the Bel Paese, which hasn’t been doing so well for even 22 years: four podiums were achieved in Edmonton in 2001, but with a 1-1-2 distribution (Fiona May’s gold in the long jump, Fabrizio Mori’s silver in the 400m hurdles, Elisabetta Perrone’s bronzes in the 20km walking and Stefano Baldini in the Marathon).
