After the DFB Cup victory in Halle, Fürth’s coach Alexander Zorniger reports on several incidents. Accordingly, one of his players is said to have been racially insulted by HFC viewers. The press spokeswoman for the third division apologizes immediately.

In terms of sport, the trip was a success. Fürth’s coach Alexander Zorniger didn’t seem really happy after the 1-0 (1-0) win at Hallesches FC. He gave the reason for his upset at the press conference: his player Julian Green is said to have been racially insulted by fans of the third division soccer team during the DFB Cup game on Saturday evening.

“My player has been dubbed a monkey by viewers several times. It didn’t just happen once, twice or three times,” said Fürth coach Alexander Zorniger. “The stadium is 95 percent full. There were enough people who could have intervened. Something like that is simply not right, regardless of whether it happens in Fürth, Nuremberg or Rostock,” said the coach.

HFC press spokeswoman Lisa Schöppe immediately apologized on behalf of the club for the misconduct of some spectators after the Fürth coach had said so. The 28-year-old Green has been playing for Fürth since 2017. He had previously played for Bayern Munich. “It was a spectator during the game. But I didn’t want to let that upset us because I really wanted to win. And that’s what hurts them the most,” Green said.

Zorniger reiterated his call for moral courage. “I don’t want us to live in a time where one person thinks they are worth more than another. And if it’s not for that reason, then it’s even worse,” the coach was quoted as saying. “Get up and say: That doesn’t work! We are a great country and we have to present ourselves accordingly. If we don’t do that, then the brown bastard will get more and more of the upper hand. That is our job and not the government or institutions.”

Halle started confidently because Fürth initially let the hosts do it. Still, Spielvereinigung took the lead: Tim Lemperle passed Sieb from a half-left position and shot in superiorly from the edge of the penalty area. After that, Fürth only did what was absolutely necessary. In the second half, Fürth, who had superior personnel, had an easy game, but were too negligent with the chances in front of the goal. Robert Wagner hit the crossbar in stoppage time.
