Assigeco Piacenza Announces Signing of NBA Champion Malcolm Miller for Upcoming Sports Season

The summer market of Assigeco Piacenza ends with fireworks. After two months spent looking for the perfect profile to complete the roster, the company is proud to announce the agreement for the next sports season with the winger Malcolm Miller, NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and coming from Limoges in the French top flight .

Born in Laytonsville (Maryland) born in 1993, the new white-red-blue player takes his first steps in his native country at Gaithersburg High School, followed by a four-year experience at Holy Cross College in Massachusetts, where he ends the year as a senior with 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. Undrafted in 2015, he played his first year as a professional in the NBA G-League with the Maine Red Claws, a franchise affiliated with the Boston Celtics, and then chose to cross the ocean the following year by accepting the proposal from Alba Berlin, where he made his debut both in the German championship and in the EuroCup. In 2017/2018 he returned to the United States signing a contract with the Toronto Raptors, dividing himself between the top US league and the NBA G-League, contributing to winning the NBA title the following season with 2.2ppg. After a parenthesis at the Salt Lake City Stars, in 2021/2022 the first experience in Italy arrives at Vanoli Cremona, closed with 9.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, followed by the one in Puerto Rico at the Caciques de Humacao. In the last year he was instead divided between the Taishin Dreamers in the Taiwan championship (17.8 points and 10.6 rebounds) and the French side of Limoges, where he also played the qualifiers to access the Top 16 of the Basketball Champions League.

Now the return to Italy with the call of Assigeco, strongly convinced by the company’s project of the president Franco Curioni:

“I am very happy to return to Italy and to join Assigeco Piacenza. I’ve heard so many good things about the team, the manager and the whole club. I want to have a great season and I’m sure this is the right place to build something wonderful.”

Miller’s characteristics go perfectly with the new white-red-blue checkerboard. Coach Stefano Salieri will be able to count on a valuable and extremely ductile player:

“We were looking for a player who could open the field well and have two dimensions, complementing himself best with Skeens. Miller’s choice goes in this direction. The feedback received was all extremely positive regarding the person and his availability on the field and this was a decisive aspect. He is an experienced, motivated player and has already played in Italy ”.

The signing of Malcolm Miller effectively closes the summer market operations, with sports director Alessandro Pagani declaring himself enthusiastic about this latest transfer market:

“Today is a historic day for the red and blue club. We are extremely proud to formalize the signing of Malcolm Miller, a player of undoubted interest with international experience, such as the NBA title won with Toronto, and in Europe with Alba Berlin, Limoges, but above all with Vanoli Cremona, where I was able to see him live being impressed by his athletic level and his ease in being on the pitch. He is a talented player but already with a lot of experience, and we are convinced he will be able to make us make a significant leap in quality. With Brady Skeens he will form our pair of Americans: having a US four and a five can be an atypical choice, but we are convinced that this move can guarantee us greater physicality given the very high level of the championship, even if Malcolm is a player that we could also use from three given his flexibility. We wanted to wait until today because we were looking for the best possible profile, and we are sure that Malcolm has all the characteristics we were looking for, starting from the human ones. We have heard him extremely motivated and convinced of the project, and we look forward to seeing him here with us as soon as all the visa procedures have been completed. I wish him all the best for this season in the hope of building something very important together”.
