Ajax has got a taste for the transfer market again. After Chuba Akpom’s announcement, the team from Amsterdam is about to commit Anton Gaaei as well. According to Football International the number three of last season in the Eredivisie has an agreement with Viborg FF about a transfer from the Danish right back. He will succeed Jorge Sánchez in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Ajax has long been associated with the arrival of Gaaei. However, the team from Amsterdam first seemed to want to say goodbye to Sánchez. The Mexican made the switch from Club América to Ajax for five million euros last year, but had a very disappointing season. Although Sánchez showed a good side at the Gold Cup earlier this summer as an international from Mexico, his future lies outside Amsterdam. The record champion of the Netherlands has reportedly reached an agreement with FC Porto about a switch from the right back. Sánchez will play the remainder of this season on a rental basis for the Portuguese top club, which must take him over definitively next year if he plays a certain number of matches.

There is still no white smoke about the deal with FC Porto, but Sánchez’s successor is ready to enter the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Ajax already seemed to have an agreement with Viborg FF on the transfer of Gaaei on Wednesday afternoon. Ajax watcher Mike Verweij van The Telegraph reported that a transfer fee of two million euros was involved, but according to reports from Denmark, there was still no agreement at all.
