Iniesta misleads everyone and announces new club

Andrés Iniesta will not play at Inter Miami against all odds. For a long time it looked like the attacking midfielder would be reunited in the United States with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, but on Monday evening Fabrizio Romano suddenly reports that Iniesta is signing in the United Arab Emirates with Emirates Club FC.
The 131-time international of Spain will land in Dubai on Monday evening to sign a contract on Tuesday that will certainly bind him to Emirates Club until mid-2024. After the upcoming football season, Iniesta has the option to stick to it for another season. It is not yet known what the salary that the currently transfer-free midfielder can earn.
Iniesta played a lifetime for Barcelona, but announced in 2018 that he would leave the club and play football in Japan. For five years, Vissel Kobe fans could enjoy the fit and insight of the Spanish stylist, but that period recently came to an end. Trainer Nelsinho Baptista made less and less use of Iniesta’s services and that did not sit well with him. The playmaker wanted to end his career at Kobe as a celebrated basic player, but he will now end his career in Dubai.
The decision is striking, because at the beginning of July Iniesta seemed almost certain to sign for Inter Miami to be reunited with his former teammates. After a month of radio silence, the maker of the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final has now taken the plunge.
