American football: the Iron Masks of Cannes go up to Division 1

A defeat in the Iron Mask conference final against the Corsairs of Evry (27-30)… but a rise in Division 1, in repechage, to reach the Elite. Good news after the refusal to climb Evry!

“After having validated our contract of objectives throughout the season, we presented our application file to the FFFA, where we brought together all the elements in terms of training, competition, administration and sports. The CFA decided that our senior team was drafted for the D1 championship with immediate effect for the 2023-2024 season. It was the club’s objective to return to the top French level”, rejoices the president, Christian Maglia.

A training club

A great challenge for the people of Cannes, who have been playing in D2 since 2019. And a great reward for the club created in 1991 which focuses on youth. “Our club is above all a training club for young talents. Having been part of this association since 1993, I have been able to see many athletes go through our structure and now evolve to the highest level in the European professional league. (ELF). And I am delighted that it continues with our three young people, Natan Perrier (U15)Aubin Vizza and Raphaël Poletti (U17) following their selection for the France Flag/Football team. They are all three summoned to participate in the European Junior Championships (U17M/F and U15 Mixed). The competition will take place in Grosseto on September 2 and 3.”

Note that the Iron Masks have set up discovery training sessions for all age groups every Friday in August at the Coubertin stadium, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Finally, the club will be present with the “sports caravan” on August 14 in Cannes, on the esplanade de la Pantiero, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
