Aliona Bolsova claims victory in US Open qualifying with a come-from-behind win against Kempen

Aliona Bolsova debuted with victory in the US Open qualifying. The Spanish beat Kempen coming from behind 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4. She in the next round she will face Bulgaru or Raina.

The US Open classification finds several Spanish men and women with the illusion of making a good performance and advancing to the main draw of the last Grand Slam of the season. Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (114th WTA) is one of the many women who wants to play the main draw of the United States Open, but for that, she must make her debut against the Belgian Magali Kempen (228th WTA).

Kempen took the first set

Extremely even match with a lot of parity from tennis and numerical. Both players were in the fight to impose their game, the two were alternating the initiative and the pace. The service games were very forceful, both the Spanish and the Belgian held their services with ease until the final part of the set. The first breaks came when Kempen was serving 4-4, however he managed to hold it. The first blow would come in the following game, after a very close game Magali Kempen pressed from the return and achieved the break to win the first set 6-4.

Bolsova found regularity

The second set started differently, the Spaniard achieving a quick break in the first game of the set. Bolsova was more “loose” and forceful with her shots, she was executing with clear ideas, without making mistakes and counterattacking very solid from the bottom. Bolsova stretched the lead from that first break until the end of the set. Said break placed her 5-4 and served with the possibility of stretching the match to a third set.

Bolsova turned the game around

The third set began with great tennis by the Belgian. After dropping the second set, Kempen went looking for the match and managed a quick break to move up 3-0. Magali already saw the end of the tunnel, however, Bolsova would seek to resist. The Spanish went from being 0-3 to 3-3 in the score. When the Belgian served in the ninth game of the serve, it was 40-0, but the Spanish would come from behind to get the break and stand at 5-4 and serve. Finally, the Spanish turned the set around and took the final set 6-4 to end up winning the match.
