Alemannia Aachen – Stadium announcer Robert Moonen: “The fairness has suffered more and more over the years”

Robert Moonen rides his e-bike a lot, out of necessity, “his knees,” the pensioner sighs. The 77-year-old hardly has any time for rest and rest anyway. Since 1956 he has been with Alemannia Aachen. It is said that he has only missed one home game since then – on the day of his communion.

On the other hand, it is documented that the traditional club, which has crashed into the regional league, has not played a league game without him for 50 years – neither at the Old Tivoli nor at the New Tivoli. With the beginning of the 1973/74 season, Moonen was the stadium announcer at Alemannia. He had already occasionally helped out in the previous season. “Everything has always been voluntary to this day,” he adds in his typical singsong, which connoisseurs would identify as “Öcher Platt”.
