Kian Fitz-Jim is permanently fixed at Ajax until mid-2027, the Amsterdam club reports on Wednesday evening. The midfielder was now fixed until the summer of 2024, so Ajax had to extend his contract in order not to see him leave on a free transfer next year. So that has now happened. The Amsterdammers also report that an agreement has been reached with Excelsior about a rental period for the youngster.
It should come as no surprise that Excelsior will be Fitz-Jim’s temporary new destination. Voetbal International already reported on Friday that the Rotterdammers want to capture him on a rental basis. Moreover, Fitz-Jim himself, after the lost duel with SC Cambuur (4-2), already indicated that he was open to a rental. In the main force, Fitz-Jim has little or no chance of a basic place or regular raids due to the presence of Branco van den Boomen and Benjamin Tahirovic, among others.
“I’m from Amsterdam, I’m having a great time at Ajax, but I don’t have much more to learn in the Eerste Divisie,” he told the weekly. “Ultimately I want to make the step to the first at Ajax, but there is now a lot of competition there. Then a rental could be a good idea, if the club also agrees.” Fitz-Jim has played 88 games for Jong Ajax so far, in which he scored four goals and eleven assists. Four times the right leg came out for the main force of the team from Amsterdam.
It is the second time in a short time that Excelsior does business with Ajax. Earlier this summer, the Kralingse club picked up Kik Pierie in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The 23-year-old defender signed a contract with the Rotterdam club until the summer of 2025.
