The left foot is planned as a backup for Jeff Chabot (25). Experience and his successful past in Cologne speak for “Heintzi”: In total, he played 108 competitive games for the billy goats in three years before he was sold to SC Freiburg for three million euros in 2018 after relegation.
Heintz’ next assignment in the Bundesliga would be career game number 200 in the football upper house. And because Union Berlin still wants to thin out its bloated squad with currently over 30 players, the iron would not put any obstacles in the way of the veteran who has moved into the second rank.
His contract at the Alte Försterei runs for a year, Union Heintz had already parked on loan at VfL Bochum last season.

Two new ones are to come, but two more could make the turn. Because Kristian Pedersen (29) and Dimitris Limnios (25) have probably received a clear indication internally that they will not play the roles that they present themselves.
Both were in the squad in the DFB Cup in Osnabrück and in the Bundesliga opener at BVB, but played no role in the Wolfsburg squad. Should adequate offers be received by both of them by Friday, no obstacles would be put in the way of the duo.
