Yanina Wickmayer has had a solid day in the Polish capital. After she had eliminated her doubles partner Heather Watson in the quarterfinals, she had to get back to work not much later: in the semifinals against none other than Iga Swiatek.
The number 1 in the world and winner of Roland Garros won set 1 with clear numbers: 6-1. Then the Polish lead 5-2.
Wickmayer seemed to capitulate, but she managed to cancel 3 match points.
At 5-5, the organization stopped the game due to the falling darkness. Tomorrow Swiatek and Wickmayer will play the match in the semifinals.
It’s going to be another solid day at work for Wickmayer. She also plays in the doubles final in Warsaw.
