“Marvin played a big part in us being able to achieve our goals in the last two years. We are very pleased that we are continuing on our common path,” said Clemens Fritz, head of professional football, about the contract extension in a club statement. especially since Marvin had more options after his successful Bundesliga season”.

The 29-year-old Ducksch switched from Hannover 96 to SV Werder two years ago and quickly became an important support. In 64 competitive games Ducksch scored 32 goals and prepared another 18 goals, in the past season he was used in every Bundesliga game and with twelve goals and eight assists made a significant contribution to the SVW staying in class.

Unsurprisingly, there was interest in extending the collaboration, which was originally planned to run until 2024, at an early stage. An exit clause, according to which the attacker could have left the Hanseatic League for the sum of seven million euros by mid-June, expired, as did Ducksch’s statement that a “timely” decision would be made after the end of the season.

It took a little longer, but finally a new agreement was reached. Werder did not provide any information about the duration of the new working paper, but it had previously leaked out that the cooperation was to be extended by a further two years to 2026 – with financially better salaries and an option for another year should the striker come to a certain number of times .

In any case, Ducksch is happy about the new clarity. “I’ve always said that I feel very comfortable at Werder, both in the city and in the team,” the 29-year-old is quoted as saying: “We’ve developed well with the team in the last two seasons. I’d like to continue to be part of this development.”
