Val-d’Oise Department Allocates 1.5 Million Euros in Funding for Sports Clubs Ahead of Paris 2024

A tidy sum. One year before the Paris 2024 deadline, the Val-d’Oise departmental council has just voted a series of aids to 58 sports clubs “which participate in the animation of the territory and the influence of the sporting excellence of the department. in France and abroad. Envelopes for next season ranging from 1,000 to 250,000 euros for a total amounting to 1.5 million euros. Athletics, rowing, badminton, basketball, football, fencing or even ice hockey, 27 disciplines, including 22 Olympic and Paralympic, benefit from it.

“Through their 25,400 licensees, they convey values ​​which are dear to our territory such as effort, discipline, rigor and regularity”, underlines the president of the community, Marie-Christine Cavecchi (LR). To determine the aid granted to each, two types of labeling have been put in place.

250,000 euros for the Jokers

On the one hand, “Performance” clubs, not necessarily evolving in the highest spheres of their respective championships but whose “sports project, club results, quality of training or moral values” deserve a department support. 34 with 10,000 licensees were thus offered a boost. Among them, the American football club the Cougars of Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône (15,000 euros) or the Athletic Karate Arnouville (2,000 euros).

On the other, 24 very high-level “Excellence” clubs, bringing together 15,400 members. And it is the latter who have won the largest sums. With 250,000 euros, the ice hockey club of Cergy-Pontoise the Jokers thus come first, followed by the Entente Franconville Cesame Val-d’Oise – athletics club in the Top 3 of the best clubs in France in Elite (225,000 euros). The Elite Val-d’Oise, handball club of Saint-Gratien, comes third on the podium with 145,000 euros.
