The English Premier League club Manchester United has agreed with the Italian Serie A club Atalanta for the acquisition of the promising Danish striker Rasmus Hojlun. says several leading football journalists. To get the 20-year-old footballer, “United” will part with 85 million euros.
Hoilun had already found a common denominator with “United” on the terms of the contract, verbally agreeing on a five-year contract. Both the Danish forward wanted to continue his career in Manchester, and the club itself had set the acquisition of Hojlun as a priority, but the Paris Saint-Germain team also got involved in the “game” last week.
First, “United” put 50+10 million on the table, to which PSG responded only with an offer of 50 million. “Atalanta” wanted to see 100 million in their account, but in the end the Italian unit found a common denominator with “United” in a deal that will cost a total of 85 million euros. 75 million will be the principal amount of the transaction, and 10 million will be for the fulfillment of various additional conditions.
The young Danish striker joined Atalanta only last summer, transferring from Austrian Championship club Sturm Graz. In 31 Serie A games, Hoi Lun scored eight goals and provided two assists. As part of the Danish national team, Hojluns played six games, in which he scored six goal. The striker had a strong performance in the Euro 2024 qualifiers in March, where he scored five goals in two games, including a hat-trick against Finland.
Hojlun will become United’s third addition this offseason. Previously, long-time Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount and Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana joined the team. At the same time, the Manchester club solved the problem in the position of the striker – until now, the team only had Anthony Martial, but the French footballer has been struggling with health problems in recent years.
