Tragedy on the Spa-Francorchamps track: Dilano Van’T Hoff, a Dutch driver aged just 18, lost his life in a Formula Regional European Championship race (event part of the Spa 24h of the GT World Challenge Europe). The MP Motorsport driver was involved in a violent collision in the rain and was hit by Adam Fitzgerald who, innocent, was unable to avoid it. Reconstruction of the accident: in Belgium the rain characterized a good part of the morning and during the race, at the ‘Raidillon’, Tim Traminitz lost control of his car hitting the left side. However, a terrible episode occurred behind him: contact in traffic and Van’t Hoff collided with a rival until he was blocked at the entrance to the ‘Kemmel’ straight. At that point Fitzgerald, absolutely blameless in this dynamic, was unable to do anything by hitting the full side of the Van’t Hoff. The dynamics of the episode appear very similar to another tragedy that always took place on this track, when Anthoine Hubert lost his life in Formula 2. It was 2019.
