Tour de France: Philipsen wins his third stage – Sport

Belgian Jasper Philipsen has claimed his third stage win in the 110th Tour de France. The 25-year-old won on Friday after 169.9 kilometers from Mont-de-Marsan to Bordeaux ahead of British veteran Mark Cavendish and Biniam Girmay from Eritrea. German sprinter Phil Bauhaus, who had already made it onto the podium twice at this year’s Tour of France, played no role this time and finished seventh. Here you can find the result of the stage and the overall ranking of the tour.

The yellow jersey for first place overall is still worn by Danish titleholder Jonas Vingegaard, who replaced Australian Jai Hindley at the top of the overall standings on Thursday’s second stage in the Pyrenees. Two-time Tour champion Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia follows 25 seconds back in second place. On Saturday, the hour of the escape could come on the eighth stage over 200.7 kilometers from Libourne to Limoges.

Perhaps Augsburg’s Georg Zimmermann will be able to catch a good group. Otherwise, another sprint decision is to be expected. Two climbs in the fourth category and up to five percent incline in the last 700 meters make the stage final difficult.
