Tomelloso Hosts I National Judo Stage with Top-Level Speakers and Educational Focus

Tomelloso will be the scene on the weekend of July 15 and 16 of the I National Judo Stage that, organized by the local Judo club, with the collaboration of the City Council, will take place in the Sports City. An event of an educational nature, “with top-level speakers in all areas of this sport, both at a technical and educational level”, as explained by the Councilor for Sports, Benjamín de Sebastián, who presented this sporting event together with the president of the Tomelloso Judo Club, Yamila Gómez.

De Sebastián, who has thanked and congratulated the club for organizing an event of this nature in Tomelloso, has also congratulated him on the last five black belts he has obtained.

This, Yamila Gómez pointed out, is the first time that an activity of this type has been organized in Tomelloso, “and even at a national level”. There is, he stressed, no ‘stage’ of this national level in which high-level technical training is brought together, as it will be done in the town, with a high-performance coach and training, aimed at updating and recycling of teachers giving them the opportunity to learn new methodologies and resources for their programming.

The event will feature two high-level speakers, Alfonso de Diego and José Miguel Urrea. The first of them is, explained Yamila Gómez, coach and technician at the High Performance Center of Madrid, National and International Master by the International Judo Federation and also leads the Paralympic Judo Team, with which he won a silver medal in the last Olympic Games in Tokyo. He has also always belonged to the high-performance Judo Club Sotillo in Madrid, which includes national and international champions.

José Miguel Urrea, who will participate in the training part, is a National Master and eighth Dan in judo. “An eminence”, highlighted the president of the tomellosero club “for whom everyone fights and for whom we have managed to be with us”. Urrea, he added, applies the new trends in neuroeducation within the mat, with new resources. He is the head of the children’s judo department of the Madrid Judo Federation. He also has two very emotional projects, one with the Children’s Cancer Association in the Madrid Judo Federation and another, a program called TEAjudo, which works with people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), to help them through this sport.

Yamila Gómez has also highlighted the presence at the event of three speakers from Tomelloso: the physiotherapist José María Belló; Adrián Caballero, who has a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and current director of the V.Lab center and Mairena Sánchez, PhD in Physical Education from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), in the City Teaching Faculty Real. Pedro José Moreno, fourth Dan and National Judo Master, member of the Castilla-La Mancha Judo Federation, will also participate.

This I National Judo Stage has been very well received, Yamila Gómez has advanced. The maximum capacity is 75 people and around 50 registrations have already been formalized, including athletes and teachers, from Madrid, Zaragoza or Lorca (Murcia) among other points in Spain, as well as Castilla-La Mancha.

There will be, he has explained two schedules of activities: one for high-level training and another for activities aimed at teachers. For the athletes, on Saturday morning there will be a standing technical and tactical judo training session, led by Alfonso de Diego and, in the afternoon, another floor judo training session, with Pedro José Moreno. In addition, Adrián Caballero will work one hour of physical preparation on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. He will also offer resources for you to do over the summer to continue your tune-up.

In the case of teachers, on Saturday morning the physiotherapist José María Belló will offer two presentations, one on “The importance of rest” and another on “Effective self-work and flexibility, aimed at judo”. On Saturday afternoon, José Miguel Urrea will talk about neuroeducation applied to tatami and, on Sunday morning, Mairena Sánchez will talk about “Motor skills”.

The event will also have a playful aspect and promotion of the city. In addition to playing sports, participants will be able to enjoy the wine tourism attractions of Tomelloso on an organized visit to the Virgen de las Viñas Bodega y Almazara cooperative.
