SAN SEBASTIAN, July 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Thousands of fans have accompanied the runners of the Tour de France this Sunday afternoon on Paseo de la Zurriola and Boulevard de San Sebastián at the end of its second stage, which started in the morning from Vitoria/Gasteiz to cover good part of Álava and Gipuzkoa and in which the French Victor Lafay (Cofidis) has taken victory.

The publicity caravan of the French round has been, as is traditional, in charge of opening the race before the cyclists pass through around 28 Gipuzkoan municipalities.

The race has entered the Territory through the GI-2620 in Arrasate, to pass, then, through Oñati, Zerain, Segura, Idiazabal, Beasain, Ordizia, Zaldibia, Abaltzisketa, Amezketa, Alegia, Altzo, Tolosa, Anoeta, Alkiza, Asteasu, Zizurkil, Andoain, Urnieta, Hernani, Astigarraga, Oiartzun, Irun, Hondarribia, Lezo, Renteria, Pasaia and finished in Donostia with the entrance of the escapades at five o’clock in the afternoon.

Tens of thousands of fans have come to the roads and towns in Gipuzkoa through which the race has passed, despite the unstable weather with scattered showers and completely overcast skies, to convey their support to the 174 runners from 22 teams in this edition.

The promotional caravan has arrived in the Gipuzkoan capital around four fifteen in the afternoon, where fans had already been crowding the streets hours before.

At 5:19 p.m., the Frenchman Victor Lafay has crossed the finish line, at the end of Avenida Navarra with Paseo de la Zurriola. The fans gathered in the vicinity of the finish line have received the runners with applause and many of them carrying ikurriñas.
