The Striker Transfer Saga: Lucas Stassin’s Potential Departure from Anderlecht Falls through, Frustrating Westerlo Vice-Chairman

Lucas Stassin was mentioned as a very likely departure from RSC Anderlecht, and KVC Westerlo was willing to take over the striker. Suddenly a transfer is completely off track and Hasan Cetinkaya, vice-chairman of Westerlo, is not happy about that.

Sudpresse recently reported that Stassin might stay with Anderlecht after all. The striker, who impressed last season at the RSCA Futures, has entered his last year of contract. He seemed to be on his way to KVC Westerlo, but a breakthrough was not found. According to the French-language newspaper, the purple-white board has now somewhat surprisingly decided that he should stay.

For example, Stassin should again become the spearhead of the Futures. It is not yet clear whether this turnaround will also be accompanied by a contract extension. If the striker does not sign up, he could leave for free next year. Cetinkaya, vice-chairman of Westerlo, told Gazet van Antwerpen that he had made no less than three bids for Stassin, in his opinion good and fair proposals.

Never a counterproposal from Anderlecht

However, Anderlecht refused every offer without making a counterproposal. “Now they want to play him in the reserves. Is that the right project for an 18-year-old boy?” says Cetinkaya. “It also needs perspective. We already want to build on its future. Everyone is now talking about De Cuyper, but it is good that Westerlo has given him the time and opportunities to develop in recent years.” More sports news
