In a new TV documentary about Boris Becker, his wife Sharlely Becker and his ex-fiancée Alessandra Meyer-Wölden talk about their experiences with the tennis legend and share vigorously against the former professional athlete.
After the prison headlines, Boris Becker (55) is doing really well again at the moment: He has returned to his job as a sports commentator and is happy in public with his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro (33). But the 55-year-old shouldn’t like a new documentary at all: Because in “The Rise and Fall of Boris Becker” (from August 4th on Paramount +) his former partners Lilly Becker (47) and Alessandra Meyer-Wölden (40) share a lot against the ex-professional athlete.
“It was like a fairy tale and became a tornado”
It is mainly about the time in 2008, when Boris left his partner Sharlely “Lilly” Becker completely surprisingly and showed up a little later with Alessandra Meyer-Wölden, who was several years younger. “I quickly realized that Boris was interested in me,” recalls Alessandra Meyer-Wölden in the TV documentary. “It started out normal until I realized, ‘God, this man is after me,'” she adds.
Becker tried very hard to impress the model: “Boris was charismatic. He got on the plane for my birthday, flew in. He wasn’t invited at all, suddenly showed up. I was enchanted that such a man was so attracted to him reached out to me. My friends were like, ‘Give him a chance.’
The engagement followed a few weeks later, but the relationship was over three months later. Meyer-Wölden says about this time: “It was like a fairy tale and became a tornado.” After the separation, the two are said to have never spoken to each other again.
“I tried every drug”
For Lilly Becker, then Kerssenberg, it was difficult to see her ex-partner with a new woman by her side so soon after the breakup. “I’ve never felt so ugly, old and unwanted. This woman is younger, beautiful. That was devastating,” explains the 47-year-old. To numb her pain, she threw herself into party life: “I tried (…) every alcohol, every drug on Ibiza. I couldn’t get drunk enough to to forget this man.”
“He’s cute but a liar.”
After the lightning relationship with Meyer-Wölden, however, Boris Becker returned to Lilly. The wedding followed in 2009 and the two finally had their son Amadeus, who is now 13 years old. In 2018, however, the final separation followed. The divorce is currently in progress and Boris Becker has a new partner: Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro (33).
Lilly Becker says today about her estranged husband: “He’s sweet, friendly, funny, but he’s also arrogant, he’s a liar. I was so deeply in love with him. In his charisma, his passion, his humor. The things the public loves him for.”
