The In-Season Tournament is finally an official reality, starting next season. After months of reflections, the NBA has finalized its new project and announced all the details.
The new competition will have the (not simple) task of enlivening the regular season, and its structure actually seems to be able to spice up the dead moments of the season.
Without wasting time, let’s find out all the details of the In-Season Tournament 2023.
Tournament structure
The 30 NBA teams were divided into six groups, three from each conference, of five teams each. The groups will be as follows:
WEST A: Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers
WEST B: Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets
WEST C: Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs
EAST A: Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons
EAST B: Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets

Each team will meet their group opponents only once, with two games at home and two away. The six group winners and one “Wild Card” per Conference, i.e. the best runners-up, will qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament.
At that point, it will become a single-elimination competition, with the Final Four in Las Vegas to determine the ultimate winner.
Except for the final, all matches will also be part of the 82 regular season canons. No extra load for players.
When?
The tournament will start on November 3, and will be held every Tuesday and Friday until the 28th of the same month.
The quarterfinals will take place on December 4 and 5 at the home arenas of the top-seeding franchises. A few days later, between 7 and 9 December, the final stages with the Final Four in Las Vegas.
