The heat doesn’t hold back Messi, first training session in Miami – Football

The already intense heat in Miami at nine in the morning, exceeding 30 degrees, did not prevent Lionel Messi from making his training debut with his new teammates from Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer (MLS) club that bets on him, and other champions, to make the leap in quality and leave the current bottom place in the championship standings.

Watched by hundreds of journalists, fans and onlookers at the Florida Blue Training ground, Messi worked side-by-side with former Barcelona teammate, midfielder Sergio Busquets, who signed for Miami on Sunday, and both had the honor of entering the field between two wings of players, with applause and pats on the back. The duo will soon be joined by a third former Barcelona veteran, full-back Jordi Alba.

The Argentine’s debut is expected for next Friday, when Inter Miami will face the Mexican club Cruz Azul in the first match of the new Leagues Cup, a competition featuring all the best teams in Mls and Mexican Liga Mx. It is not yet clear whether Messi will start or not, but the co-owner of the club, David Beckham, has announced that the former PSG “will play part of the match, but it will be up to the coach and him to decide if he is ready”.
