According to Ajax watcher Mike Verweij, it is a shame that Dusan Tadic no longer plays in Amsterdam. The football journalist blames it in particular on technical director Sven Mislintat that the Serbian attacker is now a Fenerbache player.
“They have appointed a ‘data German’ in the person of Sven Mislintat and I don’t think you have had better data than Tadic in recent years,” says Verweij in the De Telegraaf kick-off podcast. “And then you let such a player go.”
Verweij also believes that Mislintat should show more decisiveness on the transfer market. The German should go for targeted purchases instead of waiting for the money from outgoing transfers. “If you then feel doubts and you know that Noa Lang is in the market and does not rule out a return to the Eredivisie, then you just have to buy him.”
“But he is now playing in Eindhoven. And if you had known that Tadic was going to leave, Lang could have played at Ajax. It is nice to wait until money comes in, but sometimes you have to invest ahead as a club.” concludes Verweij.
