Tanel Leok wins the “Vaidava Cup” for the eighth time

Last weekend, the fiftieth competition of the “Vaidava Cup” was held in Apė for two days, which was also the 4th stage of the Latvian Motocross Championship. Estonian Tanel Leoks won the most prestigious MX1 class, thus winning the “Vaidava Cup” for the eighth time in his career. Meanwhile, in the MX2 class, Edvards Bidzāns achieved the first place in the sum of two races, while Paula Bertashiute took the victory in the MX Ladies class. In the sidecar competition this year, the crew of Māras Rupeikas/Kaspars Liepiņas won the first victory.

Tanel Leok had previously won the “Vaidava Cup” seven times in Ape, and after a four-year break he won it again. The Estonian won both races, leaving his compatriot Karela Kutsara and last year’s European champion Tomas Macuk (Rodeo MX) behind him on the podium by a total of two races. Two-time Latvian MX1 champion Kārlis Sabulis (MX Moduls), who announced that he was leaving the sport after the end of the past season, renewed his motocross career with the competition in Ape. Sixth place for him in the sum of two races.

Edvards Bidzāns (Rodeo MX) took the victory in the MX2 class, who has now taken the lead in the overall season standings. Bidzana club member Uldis Freibergs (Rodeo MX) won the 2nd place in Ape, while at the end of the day Roberts Lusis (Motokurzeme) won the third place.

Paula Bertašiūte from Lithuania continues to have a great Latvian championship season in the MX Ladies class, who celebrated the victory in the sum of two races in Ape. The winner of the previous two stages, Patricija Bērziņa (AMK Bieriņi), was second, while Estere Tračuma (MX Delveri) was chasing the bronze medal.

In the 125cc class, dominance in the “Vaidava Cup” was demonstrated in both races by the leader of the European Championship, Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis (VV Moto Racing Team), who competed in this class for the first time in the Latvian Championship this year. The second place was won by Markus Ozoliņš (MX Moduls), while Raivo Laicāns (AMK Bieriņi) climbed to the third step of the podium.

Kārlis Neija (KTM Motofavoritis) triumphed in the quadricycle competition, winning the second and first places in the races, while Reinis Bicāns (Kristera Serģs Motoklub) took the second place in the sum of two races, and Andris Ciršs (MK Aloja) was the third. Unfortunately, in the second race, the winner of the first race, Matīss Palēvics (Rodeo MX), had a heavy fall and at the end of the day he remained in 6th position.

This year, the crew of Māras Rupeikas/Kaspars Liepiņa (MX Modules) climbed to the top step of the podium for the first time in the Latvian championship competition in the sidecar competition, which won first and second place in each race. Brothers Jānis and Lauris Daideri (Kalsnava MB) are chasing the silver medals in Ape, but brothers Jānis and Pēteris Jegorov (Motoklub “Ape”) showed the third best result this time.

There are still three stages left in the Latvian motocross championship, the next of which will take place on August 20 in Stelpė.
