SV Blau-Weiß 21 Jarmen Celebrates 100 Years with Sports Festival

You could clearly see his emotion. But Wilfried Zakertzewski, the chairman of the club SV Blau-Weiß 21 Jarmen, put it away. He is a thoroughbred athlete, a man who has been involved in sports in Jarmen for decades. His heart doesn’t just beat for football, which he played actively himself, but also for the other disciplines that belong to the club: judo, volleyball and dragon boats. The man, who, as he says himself, “feels like he’s always been part of the club”, didn’t want to focus on himself at all.

Assumed the chairmanship of the association five years ago

But on Saturday he had to put up with a lot of praise. And rightly so, because the 76-year-old, who took over the club’s headquarters five years ago, is still active as a volunteer. He more than deserves recognition. Of course, like all the others who are active as trainers and department heads, and last but not least the athletes, who ultimately act as ambassadors for their home town of Jarmen with their appearances at competitions.

Both the first deputy mayor of the city Arite Hacker, as well as Jeannine Rösler, member of the state parliament from the left, Diana Rinder-Krause as chairwoman of the Vorpommern-Greifswald football association and Thomas Blank, managing director of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district sports association found very appreciative words for everything that was going on in is made to the club, which will be 100 years old in 2021.

The chairman of the club did the same, who looked back in his speech and thanked everyone who is active at SV Blau-Weiss 21 Jarmen.

Overview of the entire range of sports

At various stations, visitors were able to get a glimpse of what’s going on in the individual sectors. The dragon boat drivers had brought their boats onto the square, the judoka laid out mats on which they presented some moves and techniques in the morning. The volleyball players formed a mixed team with the soccer players, who played against each other and finally soccer was played.

The youngsters from Jarmen competed against the small kickers from Tutow. At the end, everyone received a medal and, to their great delight, a cool down. Because for everyone rather unexpectedly, part of the square irrigation system went off around noon. It wasn’t just the little ones who gave a few cheers at that moment.

The men’s teams, on the other hand, worked up a sweat: Jarmen met SV Traktor Pentz. Although this encounter was announced as a training/friendly game, the kickers gave nothing. In the end, the people of Jarmen were able to win this midsummer game 2:1.

Some fans also watched the game with great interest. Unfortunately, there weren’t very many spectators cheering on their footballers.

Many people didn’t even come to the dance evening

In general, the response from visitors throughout the day was not what the organizers of the festival had hoped: “That’s a pity. The effort is enormous. In addition, this day should also be celebrated at the same time as a city festival. But many didn’t even come to the dance evening,” said club boss Wilfried Zakertzewski on Sunday morning, disappointed at the lack of response.

But nobody should remember a 100th birthday sadly. Those who came to the Jarmen sports field had a lot of fun and certainly appreciate everyone’s commitment.
